Nigeria women’s national football team to Face Cameroon in WAFCON 2026 Preparatory Friendlies

As part of preparations for this year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, defending champions and 10-time winners Nigeria will take on Cameroon women’s national football team in two international friendlies in Yaoundé during the FIFA Women’s International Window (24 February – 7 March 2026).
The Super Falcons and the Indomitable Lionesses will clash in the Cameroonian capital on:
Saturday, 28 February 2026
Tuesday, 3 March 2026
The two sides last met in a pre-WAFCON friendly ahead of the previous edition, with Nigeria securing a 2-0 victory at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta.
The General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, Mohammed Sanusi, MON, confirmed that arrangements for the matches have been finalised in collaboration with Cameroon’s football authority.
“We have concluded everything that has to do with the two friendly matches, in conjunction with our counterpart body in Cameroon, FECAFOOT. Our commitment is to ensure that the Super Falcons are well-prepared to retain their WAFCON title in Morocco and qualify for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup finals in Brazil.”
On their part, the General Secretary of the Cameroon Football Federation, Isaac Mandong, welcomed the initiative:
“We are excited about the opportunity to host the Nigeria national team and to strengthen the ties between our two federations through this collaboration.”
The Confederation of African Football has confirmed that the 13th Women’s AFCON will take place from 17 March to 3 April 2026 in the Kingdom of Morocco. All four semi-finalists will qualify automatically for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
Nigeria lifted their 10th continental crown in Morocco last summer, overcoming Tunisia, Botswana, Zambia, South Africa and hosts Morocco on their path to glory, and will be aiming to defend their title once again.
