Abia Warriors captain Augustine Njoku is optimistic about securing a victory when his side takes on Enugu Rangers in their upcoming Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.
The match, which is billed as an Oriental Derby, will see the Flying Antelopes square off against the visitors from Umuahia.
Njoku, who expressed confidence in his team’s ability to come out on top, reassured fans that Abia Warriors are committed to maintaining their place in the NPFL. He also stressed that while they respect Rangers’ achievements, they will not be intimidated by them.
“We are in high spirits and fully prepared for our first Oriental Derby against Rangers,” Njoku said, according to Abia Warriors’ media. “We’ve worked hard, and we’re determined to protect our unbeaten record in the league.”
“We respect Rangers for their success, but we won’t be afraid of them. Our focus is on putting in a strong performance and securing the points.”
Abia Warriors currently sit in 12th place with five points from four matches, and will be hoping to improve their standing with a positive result against their eastern rivals.
