NPFL: Accepting El Kanemi Warriors coaching role was a risk – Hamza Abara

By Saheed Afolabi
El-Kanemi Warriors new Technical Adviser, Hamza Abdul’azeez Abara says he took a huge risk to take up the offer of the technical crew of the Nigeria Premier Football League club with their battle against the drop this season.
The Maiduguri based club is struggling to churn out positive results and this poor run of results led to the sacking of erstwhile coach Abubakar Hassan in February.
Following his arrival from Plateau United mid-way into the deason, Abara is optimistic about his rescue mission with the Borno Army and is assuring of replicating his survival feat with Niger Tornadoes.
“Life itself is a risk. One must be ready to take risks to succeed. Rescue missions like the one I have embarked upon are not new to me,” he told Daily Trust.
“I did it at Niger Tornadoes so I am confident that I will achieve the same feat with El-Kanemi Warriors. I will do my best to psyche up the boys whose morale is down.
“It is necessary to change their mentality and also ensure the character of the team is right. What I can say is that my present assignment is a difficult one but keeping El-Kanemi Warriors in the NPFL is not impossible. Together we shall survive the relegation battle.”
El Kanemi Warriors are rooted to the bottom of the NPFL group A with five points from nine matches, they have recorded six losses, two draws and a win in the league.
After losing a 2-1 to Kwara United before the mid-season break, El Kanemi Warriors will be restarting its NPFL campaign at the Akure Township Stadium against the Afonja Warriors on March 26.
