NPFL: Anas Yusuf puts Nasarawa United ambition ahead of personal targets

By Wale Mustapha

Nasarawa United striker Anas Yusuf says his priority this season is helping the Solid Miners challenge for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title, insisting that team success comes before personal accolades.

Yusuf struck twice in Nasarawa United’s emphatic 3–0 victory over Elkanemi Warriors on Sunday, a Matchday 14 result that continued the club’s strong start to the campaign. His brace took him to the top of the league’s scoring chart with six goals.

The 21-year-old, who finished as the NPFL’s top scorer last season, said he is not focused on retaining the award if it does not align with the club’s broader objectives.

“I am overjoyed to have scored a brace against Elkanemi Warriors. We hope to continue in this form going forward,” Yusuf said after the match.

“For now, my focus is on Nasarawa United — to help them win the league and pick a continental ticket.”

Yusuf’s form has been instrumental in Nasarawa United’s rise this season, and his commitment to the club’s ambitions will be vital as the Solid Miners push for both domestic glory and a return to continental football.
