NPFL: Careless mistakes cost Remo Stars at Bendel Insurance – Daniel Ogunmodede

Remo Stars coach, Daniel Ogunmodede says the team 3-0 loss to Bendel Insurance was due to their costly mistakes.

Bendel Insurance thrashed Remo Stars at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in the Nigeria Premier Football League encounter and went on to cut off the Sky Blue Stars’ unbeaten start to the league.

Reacting after receiving his first loss of the season at the hands of Benin Arsenals, the Remo Stars manager insists his players were outstanding, while stressing that no team is above mistakes.

“It’s not an extremely bad performance for me, we played well, they played to instructions, but this is football, you can’t do without mistakes,” Ogunmodede told media.

“We suffered the three goals out of careless mistakes and Insurance were able to take advantage of it. Like I told you not bad, they played to instruction, we made mistakes and we suffered for it.

“Officiating is not my job, I’m a football coach, he (Referee) has come, he has done his job, I come, I did my job. Today is not the way I wanted it, tomorrow is going to be the way I want it. He has officiated, he has done his part as the referee, I commend him, running for 90 minutes is not easy.”

“Not just conceding, we conceded three goals, three cheap goals and yes unbeaten it ends but the league is a marathon, we are still in the league and second on the log, maybe Insurance deserves to be at the top for now, they won four games so they deserved to be there and they are there.”

Despite the loss, Remo Stars occupy the second position in the abridged NPFL group B with nine points from four matches.
