NPFL: Enugu Rangers’ Henry Uche seeks focus on Oriental derby with Abia Warriors

Enugu Rangers star Henry Uche has called for extra focus from his side as they set to commence their 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL with an Oriental derby against Abia Warriors on Sunday.
The Flying Antelopes had a not too impressive outings in their build up but will aim to launch their new season campaign on a high in the Group B duel with rivals from Abia State at the Awka Township Stadium, Anambra State.
Despite the pedigree of their opposition, the former Enyimba and Kwara United centre back is unfazed as he is banking on their determination and team spirit to ground out a positive result.
“We want to start the season with a good result against Abia Warriors on Sunday,’ Uche told Rangers’ media.
“We have all it takes to achieve this season with the new players ready to go, we understand that our performance in our last preseason tournament did not go down well with our supporters, so we want to start very well this season to achieve our target in the end.
“I am not underrating our opponent by any chance as any encounter between both sides has never been easy but with what we have in our team, there is no stopping us.”
Both sides have met 12 times with Rangers winning five times, four victories for Abia Warriors and three games ended in a draw.
Rangers boast of lesser goals in this fixtures, having notched 16 in 12 ties – two behind the guests from Umuahia.
