NPFL: Enyimba FC starts Stanley Eguma’s era with draw against Insurance
By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
In the last Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match of 2024, Enyimba FC and Bendel Insurance played out a 0-0 draw in Aba on Tuesday.
The game was the first for Stanley Eguma as the People’s Elephant’s head coach.
The longest-serving coach in the NPFL replaced Yemi Olanrewaju last weekend after the former coach’s stuttering start to the league and CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
Tuesday’s draw extended Enyimba FC’s unbeaten record in the league to eight matches.
Out of the eight games, seven ended in draws, while the two-time African champions recorded a win.
They occupy the ninth position on the table with 24 points from 16 games and have three outstanding matches.
On January 5, 2025, Enyimba will welcome Mozambican side Black Bulls in the CAF Confederation Cup, hoping to pick their first win in four games.
Bendel Insurance, on the other hand, extended their unbeaten record to five matches.
They have won two games and drawn three of their five unbeaten runs.
