NPFL: Gbenga Ogunbote defends 3SC goalkeeper Darlington Ovunda

By Saheed Afolabi
Shooting Stars head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote has thrown his weight behind the club’s goalkeeper Darlington Ovunda following the goal conceded against Doma United.
3SC outclassed their Gombe counterparts 3-1 to maintain their unbeaten home record this season.
Despite the blunder, the tactician insists they are finding solution to their attacking threats, stressing that the art of goal scoring will be improved on as well as the defense architecture to reduce conceded goals.
“If a team scored three goals, even if we have not played well, you still need to give us some kudos,” Ogunbote told the media.
“We are coming up gradually in this aspect, it does not mean we have gotten a perfect solution. We will keep training and retraining, making sure that the art of goal scoring continues.
“The essence of the game, is to score goals and prevent goals from being scored, so if we can score and prevent the opponents from scoring, I think the attackers have done very well.
“To many people, the keeper has no excuse, but the goal he conceded, he has to be excused because it was a deflection.”
Shooting Stars will faceoff with Remo Stars in the South West derby in Ikenne on November 1. 3SC are second on the NPFL table with ten points from five matches.
