NPFL: Kabir Abdullahi’s return huge boost for Rivers United for Remo Stars visit

By: Wale Mustapha

Rivers United have received a significant boost with the return of their star striker, Kabir Abdullahi, ahead of their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 32 fixture against Remo Stars.

Abdullahi, who has been sidelined for a prolonged period due to injury, returned to full training and has been named in the matchday squad by head coach Finidi George for the upcoming clash.

The 24-year-old striker has been in superb form this season, netting four goals to become the club’s top scorer.

Rivers United will be looking to close the gap on Remo Stars, who currently sit at the top of the NPFL table with 60 points from 30 matches.

The Pride of Rivers trail in second place, eight points adrift, and a win would reduce the deficit to just five points.

Finidi George’s side will head into the match with a strong record against Remo Stars, having remained unbeaten in their last five home games against the visitors, recording four wins and one draw.

With Abdullahi’s return and their impressive home form, Rivers United will be eager to keep their title hopes alive with a crucial win over the league leaders.
