NPFL: Kano Pillars suspend technical staff amid ongoing managerial crisis

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) club Kano Pillars have suspended Technical Adviser Evans Ogenyi and Chief Coach Ahmed Garba Yaro-Yaro with immediate effect, amid growing frustration over the team’s poor form.

The decision was announced following an emergency management meeting, as the club continues to struggle for consistency in the ongoing NPFL season. While official details of the internal review were not disclosed, sources within the club pointed to “unacceptable results and form” as the primary reasons behind the action.

Kano Pillars have endured a turbulent start to the season, with a string of draws and losses leaving the team below expectations.

The latest development marks the second time this year the club has suspended a member of its technical crew, following the earlier removal of former Technical Adviser Usman Abdallah over poor results and alleged misconduct.

The board’s decision to suspend both Ogenyi and Yaro-Yaro reflects an increasingly hardline stance as pressure mounts to revive the team’s campaign. With key fixtures approaching, the club now faces the challenge of reorganising its technical structure swiftly to prevent further decline.

No interim replacements have been named as of press time, but the club is expected to make a formal announcement in the coming days.

Kano Pillars, a historically dominant force in Nigerian football, will be looking to stabilise quickly and avoid a season that could threaten their status in the top flight.
