NPFL: Ladan Bosso applauds players, lauds Kano fans after opening day draw

Barau FC head coach Isah Ladan Bosso has praised his players’ efforts and hailed the support from Kano fans after their opening day Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash with Enyimba International ended goalless.

The game, played on Sunday at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, saw the Maliya Boys dominate possession and push for a breakthrough, but both sides settled for a share of the spoils.

“The result was not what we expected, but we thank God for the goalless draw,” Bosso said after the match.

“We deserved to win because our players gave their best. But that’s football—if Enyimba can come to Kano and pick up points, then we also have the chance to go anywhere and get points.”

Bosso, who took charge of Barau FC ahead of the new season, also highlighted the vibrant atmosphere created by Kano supporters.

“Today is a historic day as the people of Kano and Barau FC came together to support us. I really appreciate it,” he added.

Looking ahead to their Matchday Two fixture against Bayelsa United in Yenagoa on August 31, Bosso expressed confidence in his side’s chances.

“Bayelsa United is my former team. I know them well, and they also know me. Going to Yenagoa is not new to me, and I hope we return to Kano with points,” he said.

Barau FC will be aiming to build momentum after their solid start, as the 2025/26 NPFL season gathers pace.
