NPFL MD 14 Reviews: Nasarawa return to summit as Remo Stars extend winning run

By Dayo Awoniyi

Nasarawa United reclaimed top spot in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Sunday with a commanding 3–0 victory over El-Kanemi Warriors in Lafia, ending their four-match winless run in emphatic fashion.

Anas Yusuf was the standout performer for the Solid Miners, netting a superb brace, while Garba Mohammed added a third to cap off a dominant display that reignited their early-season momentum.

Defending champions Remo Stars also continued their fine form, securing back-to-back wins with a 2–0 triumph over Barau FC at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta.

Ahmed Akinyele opened the scoring within 15 minutes, before Victor Mbaoma doubled the advantage shortly after the half-hour mark, keeping the Sky Blue Stars firmly in the title race.

In Enugu, Rangers ground out a narrow 1–0 win over Niger Tornadoes, thanks to Kenechukwu Agu’s composed finish 20 minutes from fulltime.

Wikki Tourists staged a late comeback to earn a 1–1 draw against Bayelsa United. Ifeanyi Ogba gave the visitors an early lead in the eighth minute, but Nasir Jibrin salvaged a point for Wikki with a dramatic equaliser three minutes from time.

Elsewhere, Warri Wolves and Kun Khalifat FC settled for a 1–1 draw. Adebambo Ademola fired Wolves ahead early, but Lekan Gabriel levelled the score seven minutes before halftime.

Abia Warriors and Bendel Insurance played out a goalless draw in Umuahia, as did Kwara United and Shooting Stars in a cagey contest in Ilorin.
