NPFL MD8 Wrap: Five-star Plateau United silence El-Kanemi Warriors

Plateau United thrashed El-Kanemi Warriors 5-0 in match day eight of the 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season to move to the third position in Group A on Wednesday.
The Jos-based side raced to a 3-0 lead at halftime off goals from Anthony Sunday, Eru Jackson, and Ibrahim Mustapha. Tochukwu Udeh and Uche Onwusonaya increased the host’s lead to five in the second half.
In Aba, two first-half goals from Obioma Chukwuemeka ensured that Enyimba secured a 2-0 win against Shooting Stars.
While in Bauchi, Wikki Tourists edged Lobi Stars 2-1. Mohammed Guda bagged a brace for the host while Umar Abba pulled goal back for the visitors in the 34th minute.
Bayelsa United forced Niger Tornadoes to a 1-1 draw as Davidi Okoromi’s 26th-minute opener was canceled by Robert Mizo in the 41st minute.
Musa Usman’s strike was enough to earn a 1-0 win for Doma United over Abia Warriors in Gombe.
Bendel Insurance in Benin maintained its unbeaten streak with a 1-0 victory against Nasarawa United thanks to Ebuka Akobundu’s 52nd-minute goal.
Dakkada FC pipped Sunshine Stars 2-1 in Uyo with goals from Emmanuel Ayaosi and Niger Republic import, Karim while Udom Ekerette reduced the deficit for the Akure-based side.
In Ibadan, Kwara United and Remo Stars settled for a goalless draw.

Lobi Stars dominate Group B with 16 points more than Abia Warriors (13 points), Rivers United (13 points), Sunshine Stars (12 points), Doma United (12 points), Niger Tornadoes (9 points), Enugu Rangers (8 points), Wikki Tourists (8 points), Dakkada FC (7 points), and Bayelsa United (6 points).
