By Wale Mustapha
One of the major objectives of Bendel Insurance FC in their latest return to the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL is to stabilize and become one of the dreaded sides in the league.
That ambition also conform with their head Coach Monday Odigie who affirmed that the club will not be a one-season club again in the upcoming season.
Odigie who led Insurance back to the top-flight after three seasons in the lower division, noted that the ‘Benin Arsenal’ as Insurance are fondly called will focus on retaining life in the topflight before other ambitions.
Odigie who dedicated the club’s return to the NPFL to the fans for their patience and loyalty promised to make them more happier in the coming NPFL season.
“I’m grateful to God for making the team finds its way back to the league, for me as a person, it’s not as important as the people, the state and how the fans of the club feel, they deserve it for their loyalty and believe in the team all the while,” Odigie told media.
“Like you know there used to be household names in Nigerian football and every other names of these clubs have returned, now that Bendel Insurance is also there, I think am happy and I think it’s a good thing for the team.
“Like you all know, the team has been away for a long time so the first thing is for the team to stabilize itself and make sure they’re back with the big league, and then they can fight for whatever is there to fight for.
“If you’re in a league, there’s a reason why you’re there, if you don’t know why you’re there, then there’s a problem, the whole family of Bendel Insurance wants to work towards ensuring the team remains there and try to fight for what to fight for, that’s our objectives.”
Bendel Insurance will start a new life in the NPFL against former champions, Akwa United when the new season get underway on January 8 in Uyo.
