NPFL: Ogunmodede Confident Remo Stars Will Secure Title Despite Setback Against Rivers United

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Daniel Ogunmodede, the head coach of Remo Stars, remains optimistic about his team’s chances of clinching the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title, even after their recent loss to Rivers United.

The Sky Blue Stars suffered a 1-0 defeat to Rivers United during a matchday 32 fixture held at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

This loss has narrowed their lead at the top of the standings to five points.

Despite this challenge, Ogunmodede is resolute in his belief that they will reach their goal by the end of the season.

“We lost focus for just a moment, and it cost us. We had three clear opportunities, and overall, it was a competitive match for both teams, reflecting our determination,” Ogunmodede remarked following the match.

“There are no complications. If we return home and secure a victory, we will regain an eight-point lead. We have three more home matches, and we will strive to earn maximum points. This is a tough competition, and we embrace it.

“We are nearly there. In the next six weeks, we should be discussing our success.”

Remo Stars are set to face Lobi Stars in a rescheduled matchday 30 game at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu on Wednesday.
