NPFL Sanctions: Nasarawa United Charged Over Security Breaches, Fan Misconduct

Nasarawa United have been formally charged for multiple violations of the NPFL Framework and Rules following their home fixture against Kun Khalifat FC on April 5, 2026, at the Lafia City Stadium.

According to the league authorities, the club failed to provide adequate and effective security during the match, leading to unauthorized individuals gaining access to restricted areas. The situation escalated as supporters reportedly threw dangerous objects at match officials while they were heading toward those restricted zones.

In addition, officials of Nasarawa United were cited for unsporting behaviour deemed capable of bringing the game into disrepute. The club was also found guilty of failing to control its supporters, whose actions included harassing match officials and holding them hostage for approximately 20 minutes.

As a result of these infractions, the NPFL has imposed a series of sanctions on the club:

A fine of ₦1 million for failure to provide adequate security

A fine of ₦1 million for supporters throwing dangerous objects

A fine of ₦1 million for unsporting conduct by club officials

A fine of ₦1 million for improper conduct of supporters, including harassment and detaining match officials

In addition to the financial penalties totaling ₦4 million, Nasarawa United will play their final two home matches of the season behind closed doors.

The Lafia-based club has been given 48 hours from the date of notification to file an appeal against the sanctions.
