NPFL: ‘Title-hungry Lobi Stars are prepared for any challenges ahead’ – Ter Akombo

By Wale Mustapha
Lobi Stars assistant coach Ter Akombo has expressed confidence in the qualities of his side following a 2-0 win over Abia Warriors in the Nigeria Premier Football league encounter on Sunday.
Goals from Abba Umar and Joseph Atule cemented the status of the Pride of Benue at the top of Group B standings as they inch closer to a Super Six playoff spot.
And the former Lobi Stars, who played for the club for over a decade foresees tough days ahead but confident they will weather the storm in their quest for glory.
“It wasn’t a bad game, what we are expected to see was what happened, they (Abia Warriors) are not a bad side but our main focus was to win and get the three points and we are happy about it,” Akombo told NigeriaFootball.ng.
“We are more focused on achieving the season’s target now, even though we know it will become more challenging to do it but we are prepared for it and ready to face it,” he said.
The club was able to have the duo Monday Akile and Kumagar Suur back to the team following their involvement with the national team but had little impact in the match.
Akombo defended his players, stressing that the duo required little time to gel into the team after a long while out.
“To be honest, they were far behind but we can understand, the set back from missing out on the target at the national team could tell on them, but we believe they will fit in well now that they at fully back to the team.”
Lobi Stars will be taking on Rivers United on Wednesday for the top of table clash in Group B.
