Nwankwo Kanu describes Enyimba’s CAF Champions League crash as unfortunate

Nigeria legend, Kanu Nwankwo has described the knockout of Enyimba from the CAF Champions League as an unfortunate development.
The People’s Elephant could not break Al Ahli Benghazi defense in the second leg as they crashed out in the first round for the first time in their history in the elite club competition.
And the former Nigeria international believes the team’s shocking early exit was a bad omen, stressing that the team were unlucky to not to win despite dominating the contest.
“When you lose a game of course it is a bad one. But I wouldn’t say it’s a bad start, we want to be there, we want to be in the group stage and do what we have to do,” Kanu was quoted by News Pathfinder.
“One plus one doesn’t always equal two in football. So if you take the positives like I said you’ll say that yes they did well.
“If we didn’t play well and we lost, that’s another problem. That’s the point I’ll say that it’s a bad start. Now Kanu cannot carry the ball and put inside the goalpost, sometimes these things happen to the best teams, the best players and that’s football.
“We have to move on. On what will happen next, of course the boys have to put their heads up and then know that sometimes in life you fall and you stand up. Let’s not discourage them, we need to support and encourage them to do better next time.”
Enyimba will now shift their focus to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) which will start in September.
