NWFL clubs know foes after 2023 Betsy Obaseki Women’s Football Tournament draw

Holders, FC Robo Queens will start their title defence against second-tier Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship side, Fortress Ladies following Friday’s draw in Benin City.

The draw for the 2023 Betsy Obaseki Women’s Football Tournament was conducted in Benin City, with the 13 participating teams knowing their group opponents on Friday.

Robo will also trade tackles with fellow top-flight NWFL Premiership teams, Heartland Queens and Rivers Angels in the group stage in Group C.

Group B houses three Premiership teams, Nasarawa Amazons, Bayelsa Queens, and Confluence Queens as well as 2023 NWFL Premiership champions, Delta Queens, Ekiti Queens, and Osun Babes.

Hosts, Edo Queens have been drawn with Naija Ratels and newly established Remo Stars Ladies in Group A.

Earlier on, the Mascot of the tournament was unveiled by the designer Tony Ifemije, who worked on the design in line with the theme of the tournament and the image of Her Excellency, Betsy Obaseki before the unveiling of the theme song of the event by the LXX Choral.

The tournament is scheduled to commence on Monday, October 23rd, with the opening match set for 5 p.m. immediately following the opening ceremony at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
