NWFL: New Heartland Queens captain Kate Akpata calls for togetherness

Heartland Queens new captain, Kate Akpata has called on her teammates to show togetherness in order for the team to succeed.
The Owerri based outfit had a fair outing at the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament preseason tourney where they lost to eventual champions Edo Queens in the quarter final of the competition.
Akpata said it was shocking to be named the captain of the Owerri based side and lauded the Management for entrusting her with the leadership duties, while calling for the cooperation of her teammates for the team to succeed.
“I’m indeed shocked to receive this honour, I wasn’t expecting to be named captain because it’s a scarce honour,” Akpata told Heartland Queens media.
“So I really appreciate the Heartland Queens Management and coaching crew for finding me worthy to put on Heartland Queens captain band. To whom much is giving, much is expected and i want to assure you that we will deliver.
“And to my team mates, don’t forget that this mantle is a clarion call for all us, and together we can do it. This role entails service to you, so we are here to serve and to do that, i will need the cooperation of team mate and with God on our side, the league cup is within reach.”
Heartland Queens will be participating in the 2023 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership and they are drawn in group A
