NWFL Premiership MD 9 Wrap: Holders Delta edge Ekiti as Nasarawa crush Ratels

After a 2-1 loss to Sunshine Queens last week, holders, Delta Queens returned to winning ways with a similar scoreline over Ekiti Queens as the 2023/2024 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership reached Matchday nine with eight games on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.

Two goals from Olabiyi Folajomi and Maureen Okpala ensured that Rachael Okotete’s 90th-minute strike was mere consolation.
In Lafia, Nasarawa Amazons were the biggest winners of the matchday with a 5-0 bashing of Naija Ratels in North Central Derby.
A brace from Ojiyovwi Kesiena and a goal each by Mosaku Bisola, Yina Adoo, and Shobowale Olushola lifted the Solid Miners to a comfortable victory.
Former winners, Bayelsa Queens beat Sunshine Queens 2-0 in Yenegoa extending their unbeaten streak to three games
Divine Onwichekwa and Rose Ekong converted the two goals for the Prosperity Girls.
In Gombe, Adamawa Queens had to come from a goal down after Rose Adeshina’s opener to secure a 2-1 win over Abia Angels.
Blessing Sule and Florence Onyinyechi’s penalty propelled the Northern side to their fourth win of the campaign.
Another former league winner, Rivers Angels secured their fifth win of the season after a 2-0 victory against Remo Stars Ladies in Port Harcourt.
Blessing Okpe and Adugbe Olamide scored for Ogbonda Whyte’s side.
In Lagos, one of the two games at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena ended 1-0 in favour of FC Robo Queens over Edo Queens as Oladipo Shukurat’s goal on the hour mark separated both sides.
Relatively, Dannaz Ladies emerged victorious over Confluence Queens in a six-goal thriller in the second match in Lagos.
Zainab Raji, Fatimoh Solaty, Olawunmi Akintola, and Farike Moses converted for the host while Daniella Fagbenro and Mary Mahmud made the scoreline respectable for the visitors.
The league will continue with Matchday ten games next week.
