The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership has entered its mid-season break, with the second half of the 2024/2025 season set to begin on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.

The break follows an action-packed Matchday Seven on February 26, 2025, where a record 27 goals were scored, including three hat-tricks.

The mid-season transfer window, which opened on March 1, 2025, will close on March 11, 2025. NWFL Chief Operating Officer Modupe Shabi recounted the importance of this window, allowing clubs to strengthen their squads before the second half of the season kicks off.

She said, “This transfer window provides clubs with the opportunity to reinforce their teams and address key areas ahead of the second half of the season. We expect clubs to make strategic moves that will intensify competition in the league.”

In Group A, Remo Stars Ladies lead with 19 points, closely followed by Edo Queens with 17 points. Abia Angels and Nasarawa Amazons are also in contention. In Group B, Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens are tied with 17 points, with Delta Queens, Naija Ratels, and FC Robo Queens trailing.

The mid-season break officially ends on March 18, 2025, and the second half of the season will begin the following day, on March 19. At the end of the season, the top teams will advance to the NWFL Premiership Super 6 Championship, where they will compete for the league title.

Key statistics from the first half of the season include 56 matches played, with another 56 to be contested in the second half. Matchday 7 saw a record 27 goals scored, the highest in a single matchday. Five hat-tricks were scored, including two by Mary Lucky of Abia Angels. Naija Ratels recorded the most draws, with three out of seven matches. Remo Stars and Edo Queens were the best defensive teams, each conceding just three goals. Remo Stars also secured the most wins, recording six victories out of seven matches. Bolaji Olamide of Rivers Angels was the top scorer with nine goals in seven matches, scoring in every game. Rivers Angels were the most prolific team, scoring a total of 18 goals. In total, 27 home wins and 11 away wins were recorded in the first half of the season.

The second half of the season is set to bring more competition and excitement as teams aim for the title. With the transfer window closing soon, clubs will look to make key signings that could shape the outcome of the 2024/2025 season.
