Odion Ighalo makes history in FIFA Club World Cup final
By Monsurah Olatunji
Nigeria international Odion Ighalo became the first Nigerian since Victor Moses in 2012 to feature in a Club World Cup final when they face Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid at Morocco’s Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
Although, the former Super Eagles failed to add the most important trophy in club football to his CV as Real Madrid humbled Al Hilal 5-3 in the FIFA Club World Cup final.
The damage had already been done by the time Nigerian forward Ighalo, who was supposed to be the club’s talisman, came on with four minutes left on the watch but could not turn the game around for Al Hilal.
The former Manchester United man joined Victor Moses and John Mikel Obi to miss a chance of winning the distinguished trophy with Chelsea in 2012.
