By Wale Mustapha
Nigerian striker, Odion Ighalo reaffirmed his qualities and understanding of Saudi Pro League on Thursday as he scored a 24 minutes hat trick for his new club, Al Wehdah in their 4-2 win over Damac FC.
The former Super Eagles’ forward joined Al Wehdah few weeks ago after ending his three season’s relationship with another Saudi club side, Al Hilal.
Thursday’s match against Damac FC was Ighalo’s second full start since joining his new employer and did make it his own night with his man-of-the-match performance.
The former Manchester United attacker opened the scoring in the 17th minute before Cessay brought Damac level in the 36th minute.
Ighalo restored the lead for Al Wehdah with his second of the night in the 46th minute from the penalty spot before completing his hat trick in the 52nd minute.
Goodwin made it 4-1 to the host in the 62nd minute while Sultan Faqiti halved the deficit for the away side.
Ighalo was replaced in the 91st minute after getting the job done for the hosts as the game ended 4-2.
The victory ensured Al Wehda moved to seventh on the Saudi Arabian log with nine points from six games.
