By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

FC Nantes has officially signed Nigerian international Chinaza Uchendu until June 2025.

The 26-year-old striker joins from Galatasaray SK, where she recently finished as the top scorer in the Turkish championship.

The Super Falcons forward reminisced about her time in France during the 2019 Women’s World Cup, where she experienced the thrill of playing in front of large crowds and against formidable opponents.

Uchendu expressed her excitement about joining Nantes, stating, “I am happy to join the FC Nantes club. I will discover this championship, which I know almost nothing about.”

“But this is not the first time I have come to France. I took part in the World Cup in 2019 (Nigeria was eliminated by Germany in the round of 16). I remember the crowd,” the new Canaries striker continued.

“I had never played in front of so many people before. I had faced big names. I am super excited at the idea of meeting this crowd again, the fans, of creating new memories.”

With a diverse career that includes stints in Portugal, Sweden, South Korea, and Turkey, Uchendu has already made her mark by winning a league title with Braga in Portugal and another with Galatasaray.

Now, she looks forward to making new memories with the Yellow and Greens in D1 Arkema.
