OFFICIAL: Ngozi Okobi joins Canadian side

Nigeria midfielder Ngozi Okobi-Ekeoghene has returned to club football and announced joining Canadian Northern Football League side Ottawa Rapid FC.

She joined the team after playing for Spanish outfit, Badalona during the 2022/2023 season before giving birth to her first child.

The 31-year-old midfielder confirmed her new home on her X handle.

“New home, new journey. 💪Let’s go samba 😘.” She posted.

Okobi had her long club stint with Swedish side, Eskilstuna United before moving to Spain after five seasons.

Before that long stay in Sweden, she previously played for Washington Spirit (United States of America) and Vittsjo in Sweden.

Her new team is based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and will make their debut at the top level of Canadian football in 2025.

TD Place Stadium in Landsdowne Park is the new home ground of Okobi when the team get there league campaign underway.

The former Delta Queens player was part of the Nigeria senior women’s national team at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in 2010, 2012 and 2014, winning two of them (2010 and 2014).

She also played for Nigeria at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Ngozi Okobi has played for the Nigerian team albeit the under 17 squad since 2008 and got her first senior call up immediately after the U-17 tournament in 2010.
