Oghenekaro Etebo’s Injury Sidelines Him from Crucial Las Palmas vs. Real Madrid Showdown

In a significant setback for Las Palmas, Nigerian midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo has been ruled out of the highly anticipated Spanish LaLiga clash against reigning European champions Real Madrid this Saturday. Etebo, who had been nursing an injury sustained two weeks ago, was hopeful of making a contribution in the pivotal fixture, having missed Nigeria’s recent friendlies against Poland and Serbia.

Despite initial optimism surrounding Etebo’s potential return, Las Palmas coach Paco Jemez confirmed the player’s unavailability during the pre-match conference on Friday, citing a cautious approach to prevent further injury. “As a result of the injury, Etebo has been ruled out of the game. We do not want to risk him,” Jemez emphasized.

Etebo’s absence is undoubtedly a blow to Las Palmas, currently positioned 18th in the LaLiga table with 21 points from 29 games. The team is in a fierce battle against relegation and was counting on Etebo’s contribution to secure a positive result against Real Madrid, bolstering their chances of survival.

Since joining Las Palmas on a six-month loan deal from Portuguese side Feirense in January, the 23-year-old midfielder has featured in seven games, providing a crucial assist. The club will now face the formidable Real Madrid without Etebo, heightening the challenge as they strive to climb out of the relegation zone.
