Enyimba  goalkeeper, lorunleke Ojo has reacted emotionally after making the Nigeria’s men national team squad to the 2023 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) in Cote D’Ivoire.
The former Akwa United and Sunshine Stars shot-stopper was the only player from the Nigeria Premier Football League on the 25-man list selected by Jose Peseiro for the West African’s 20th campaign at the African showpiece.
Upon official announcement on Friday, the People’s Elephant captain took to social media to express his appreciation, including the Super Eagles technical crew for finding him worthy of a place on the country’s roster.
While savouring his inclusion, the 28-year-old vowed never to disappoint, and dedicated the feat to NPFL players.
“This period is so emotional for me, and I want to use this medium to appreciate the media, football pundits, fans, and most importantly the technical crew of the Super Eagles, for believing in me and for giving me a rare opportunity to be a part of the upcoming AFCON team,” Ojo wrote on his facebook account.
“I will give it all my best if given the opportunity to be in goal in any of the matches. I am more or less be a flag bearer for the NPFL at the AFCON. I dedicate this inclusion to GOD and all NPFL players.”
The Super Eagles will open camping for the AFCON on January 2 in Dubai.
Nigeria have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau and the three-time African champions will begin their campaign against the Central Africans on January 14, 2023.
