Onyeamachi eager for UEFA Champions League debut after title-winning season with AEK Athens

By Wale Mustapha

Nigerian international Bruno Onyeamachi says he is eagerly anticipating his first appearance in the UEFA Champions League, following a successful season with Greek champions AEK Athens.

The 24-year-old left-back joined AEK midway through last season and quickly became a key figure in the squad, helping the club secure both the Greek Super League title and the domestic cup, completing a memorable double.

Now, with AEK Athens set to feature in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League, Onyeamachi is preparing for what he describes as the biggest stage of his club career so far.

“It’s a very big season because I’ll be playing in the Champions League for the first time,” he told TVC News.

“I’m looking forward to this. I hope I’m prepared for it, and I hope I stay injury-free as well.”

The former Boavista defender, who has also earned call-ups to the Super Eagles, will be aiming to use the continental stage to showcase his talent and further solidify his place in Nigeria’s national team setup.

With Champions League nights on the horizon, Onyeamachi’s rise from domestic leagues to European elite competition marks another significant milestone in his growing career.
