Oshoala, Ajibade and others arrive Nigeria after gallant Women’s World Cup outing

Some players of Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, including Asisat Oshoala have arrived in Nigeria after a gallant performance at the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand on Wednesday.
Other Super Falcons players, including Rasheedat Ajibade, Osinachi, Chiamaka Nnadozie, Gift Monday, and Rofiat Imuran arrived at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.
They were welcomed by board members of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ganiu Majekodunmi, Chairman Lagos Football Association, Faoud Oki, and other top dignitaries.
Head coach Randy Waldrum had Brisbane, Australia with all the seven United States (US-born) Super Falcons players on Tuesday.
Players who left with the coach include Abiodun Deborah (University of Pittsburgh), Ifeoma Onumonu (Gotham FC), Esther Okoronkwo (UDG Tenerife), and Michelle Alozie (Houston Dash).
Others are Toni Payne (Sevilla FC), Jennifer Echegini (University of Florida), and Yewande Balogun (Saint Etienne).
The nine-time African champions didn’t lose any match in regulation time, only losing the Round of 16 game against European champions, England on penalties.
The West Africans played four games and didn’t lose any group game for the first time at the World Cup, keeping three clean sheets before bowing out of the tournament.
They will now shift focus on the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations against Sao Tome and Principle in September before Paris 2023 Olympic qualifying second round clash with Ethiopia in October.
