Pacesetter Queens FC Unveiled in Oyo State with Bold New Identity and Visionary Leadership

A new era in Nigerian women’s football began this week as Pacesetter Queens FC, Oyo State’s premier female football club, was officially unveiled in a landmark event held in Ibadan.
The press conference featured the reveal of the club’s new logo, the announcement of a forward-thinking leadership team, and the presentation of strategic goals to elevate women’s football across Nigeria.
Presiding over the occasion, Hon. Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Miss Wasilat Adegoke, expressed deep appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde for his unwavering support for youth and gender equality in sports.
“His Excellency’s dedication to empowering female athletes through financial backing and goodwill has made this milestone possible,” Adegoke stated.
“We are committed to creating a legacy of excellence, pride, and equal opportunity through Pacesetter Queens FC.”
The newly unveiled club logo, described as bold and modern, symbolizes the strength, unity, and ambition of the team and its growing fan base. It marks the club’s readiness to compete not just on the national stage, but internationally.
Meet the Leadership Team
The club’s management and technical bench comprises seasoned professionals committed to player development and operational excellence:
* Head Coach: Akinwunmi Obajimi
* First Assistant Coach: Damilola Olaitan Badmus – Former player, CAF C License
* Second Assistant Coach: Zaccheaus Aderoju
* Physical Trainer: Lateef Lukman
* Goalkeeper Trainer: Foluso Ajayi – FIFA-certified
* Welfare Officer: Miss Grace Towobola – CAF and UEFA B License holder

Looking Ahead: Trials and Infrastructure
The Commissioner also announced an open one-month trial period for aspiring players. Successful candidates will benefit from structured training programs, transportation support (with a team bus to be introduced post-trials), and access to top-tier facilities including the Adamasingba Stadium and Olubadan Stadium.
An official flag-off by Governor Makinde is scheduled in the coming weeks to signal the formal commencement of team activities.

Goodwill messages were delivered by ex-international Mutiu Adepoju and Oyo State FA Chairman, Oba James Odeniran, reaffirming broad support for the club’s mission and long-term goals.
