University of Pittsburgh midfielder, Deborah Abiodun is on cloud nine after sharing the same pitch with Brazil great and one of the greatest in women’s football, Marta.

The two players met during the Nigerian senior women’s national team’s 1-0 loss to Brazil in the opening Group C matchup of women’s football tournaments at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Thursday.

Abiodun and Marta shared some emotional words and experiences during the match to the delight of the former Rivers Angels player.

“📸✨ A moment to remember! ✨,” Abiodun posted on her X handle.

“Last night, I had the honor of chatting with the one and only @martavieiras10 whose legacy has inspired generations.

“Sharing wisdom, experiences, and smiles with such an icon is truly unforgettable. Here’s to chasing dreams and making history! 🙌⚽️.”

Abiodun is largely seen as the star of the future while Marta is playing her last international tournament with the South American champions.

Their meeting brought together the future and the history of women’s football as Abiodun hopes to help Randy Waldrum’s side sail through a tough Group C against Spain and Japan.
