Paschal Onyekachi and Neuchâtel Xamax part ways after mutual contract termination

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Nigeria star Paschal Onyekachi has parted ways with Swiss club Neuchâtel Xamax after the two parties agreed to a mutual contract termination.

The 25-year-old striker departs the club just one year into his contract, having made 20 appearances and contributed 4 goals and 2 assists during his brief spell.

The club confirmed the development in an official statement, which read: “Neuchâtel Xamax announces that it has reached an agreement with Paschal Onyekachi to terminate his contract. The club wishes him the best for the rest of his career.”

Onyekachi joined Neuchâtel Xamax in the summer of 2024 and had a modest impact during his time in Switzerland.

The former Nigeria U-20 international, who was part of the Flying Eagles squad at the 2019 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, is best remembered for scoring in the penalty shootout during Nigeria’s semifinal match against Mali, though the team ultimately fell short in the tie.

The forward’s departure from Neuchâtel Xamax opens the door for new opportunities as he seeks to continue his career elsewhere.
