Nigerian forward Peter Olayinka has officially ended his stint with Serbian champions Red Star Belgrade after both parties agreed to a mutual termination of his contract, the club announced on Thursday.
Olayinka, 28, joined Red Star in 2023 and made 46 appearances, scoring 14 goals during his two-year spell. The decision to part ways was said to be driven by the player’s desire to seek a new challenge in his career.
In a statement posted on its official X handle, the club said: “Crvena Zvezda Football Club informs the public that it has mutually terminated its cooperation with Peter Olayinka, with mutual understanding and respect.
Peter expressed his desire to seek a new challenge in his career, and the club accommodated him, with gratitude for his professional attitude, dedication, and contribution to our team in the previous period.
Crvena Zvezda thanks Olayinka for everything he has done in the red-and-white jersey and wishes him much success, health, and happiness in the continuation of his career. Thank you, Peter, and good luck!”
Olayinka, a former Slavia Prague striker, played a key role in Red Star’s domestic campaign last season and featured in their UEFA Champions League matches earlier this year.
His next destination remains uncertain, but transfer speculation is expected to intensify ahead of the January transfer window.
