Peter Olayinka: Super Eagles striker signs pre-contract with Red Star Belgrade

Red Star Belgrade have announced that Nigeria international Peter Olayinka has entered into a preliminary contract with the Serbian SuperLiga champions.

The development means the Super Eagles striker will officially join the 1991 European champions on July 1, 2023, at the expiration of his contract with Slavia Prague.

The 27-year-old signed a three-year contract until June 2026 with an option to extend for a further year.

In the meantime, the Nigeria forward will focus on helping Slavia Prague to fend off strong oppositions coming from Viktoria Plzen and Sparta Prague in the race to win the ongoing Czech Republic Fortuna Liga.

Olayinka had joined Slavia Prague in the summer of 2018 after his switch from KAA Gent in Belgium. The 36 Lion FC product has scored 43 goals and registered 23 assists in 169 outings for Slavia.

At international level, the forward has featured for Nigeria at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations held in Cameroon, where the Super Eagles crashed out of the tournament in Round of 16 following a 1-0 loss to Tunisia.
