Kwara United head coach Tunde Sanni says his team understands the significance of winning the President Federation Cup, as they prepare to face Abakaliki FC in the final on June 29 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.
The final presents a historic opportunity for the Ilorin-based club to claim their first-ever major domestic title.
A win would not only mark a milestone for the Harmony Boys but also secure a spot in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
Sanni, who is aiming to win his first major trophy with the Ilorin-based club both as a coach and as a former player, said the team is using the historic nature of the occasion as motivation ahead of the high-stakes clash.
“Right from the start, we knew the importance of this tournament,” Sanni speaking to the club’s media team.
“We are aware of how important the Cup is to all of us and to everyone who believes in Kwara United. That’s why we are preparing hard for it.”
Kwara United advanced to the final after a strong campaign in the rebranded President Federation Cup, formerly known as the Aiteo Cup.
