President Federation Cup winners Kwara United unveil 18 new signings, set sights on NPFL title

By Dayo Awoniyi

Kwara United have unveiled 18 new signings ahead of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, as the Ilorin-based club set their sights on winning the league title following last season’s historic FA Cup triumph.

The Harmony Boys, who ended a 49-year wait to lift the prestigious Challenge Cup, retained 13 players from their title-winning squad while reinforcing heavily across all departments.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, General Manager Mallam Bashir Badawiy said the club’s ambition was to surpass last season’s achievement by competing strongly for both the NPFL crown and the defence of their FA Cup title.

“Just like we created history with the Challenge Cup after 49 years, we have worked hard to build a determined and disciplined team ready for the challenges ahead,” Badawiy stated. “We’ve put measures in place to ensure we not only retain the FA Cup but also contend seriously for the league title.”

Badawiy praised the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the NPFL board, and Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq for their support, stressing that discipline will remain non-negotiable within the team.

Technical Adviser Tunde Sanni echoed the optimism, while captain Azeez Olororo assured fans that the players are prepared to deliver on expectations.

“We’re ready to put in our best and never let you down. We appreciate your support and look forward to making you proud,” Olororo said.

With renewed ambition, stronger depth, and confidence drawn from their historic cup victory, Kwara United enter the new season among the teams to watch in the race for NPFL glory.
