President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday swore in the newly appointed Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Mrs. Hulayat Omidiran, alongside 37 commissioners, at the State House, Abuja.
Omidiran, an indigene of Ikire, Osun State, succeeds Dr. Muheeba Dankaka as FCC chair. A former member of the House of Representatives who served between 2011 and 2019, she represented Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency. Her appointment followed security screening and confirmation by the Senate after an appearance before the Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs.
At the ceremony, President Tinubu also administered the oath of office to Mr. Mohammed Musa, who was appointed Secretary of the Commission.
The 37 commissioners sworn in represent the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), in line with the FCC’s constitutional mandate to promote equity, fairness and inclusiveness in federal appointments and resource distribution.
After the oath-taking, President Tinubu exchanged handshakes with the new FCC leadership and commissioners.
Dignitaries at the event included the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake; Permanent Secretary, State House, Temitope Fashedemi; and Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs Office, Dr. John Ezeamama.
The Federal Character Commission is constitutionally empowered to ensure fair representation of Nigeria’s diverse groups in public service appointments and the conduct of government business.

Since February 2018, Samuel has been the Social Media Manager for Nigeria's women's national teams.In 2019, Samuel joined the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as a women's football content contributor and was promoted to Women's Football Editor in 2021. His contributions to women's football continued as he worked as a Media Consultant for Content Creation and Editorials at the 2022 CAF Women's Champions League. Currently, Samuel also serves as the spokesman for the Nigeria Women Football League, further solidifying his influence and dedication to the growth of women's football in Africa.
