Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have reportedly withdrawn from negotiations to acquire Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli.

The hefty buyout clause in Osimhen’s contract has proven to be a significant obstacle for the French giants.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that a deal between the two clubs is unlikely, citing the demands of Napoli as the main barrier.

“Negotiations between PSG and Napoli for Osimhen are not advancing after recent talks,” Romano posted on his X handle.

“PSG rejected to include Kang-in Lee in the deal and will not trigger the release clause as Napoli wanted.

“Deal not happening under these conditions. PSG also happy with Ramos & Kolo Muani.”

Osimhen’s release clause stands at €130 million, a figure PSG are unwilling to meet. This clause is part of his current contract with Napoli, which runs until 2025.

Given these circumstances, PSG will continue with their existing striking options, including Gonçalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani.

The stalemate in negotiations underscores the complexity of high-stakes transfers and the financial calculations clubs must consider. As it stands, Osimhen will remain with Napoli, where he continues to be a key player.
