Raheem Sterling joins exclusive club after netting Manchester City opener vs Newcastle
Published
3 years agoon
Manchester City and Newcastle United are currently locked in Premier League action at the Etihad.
City headed into the game no doubt eager to bounce back from their Champions League collapse earlier this week, and also capitalise on Liverpool dropping points vs Tottenham on Sunday.
Liverpool drawing meant that Pep Guardiola’s side can go three points clear of the Reds on Sunday if they beat the Magpies.
And, at the time of writing, the Sky Blues are on course to do exactly that.
City started the tie on the front foot and took the lead after 19 minutes. Ilkay Gundogan floated a lovely ball into the path of the onrushing Joao Cancelo who put the ball back across goal for Raheem Sterling to head in.

Raheem Sterling joins exclusive Premier League club
Following Sterling’s opener on the day, it has been revealed that the Englishman has joined an exclusive club.
Sterling has now scored 50 goals at the Etihad Stadium, with only one other player in history able to achieve such a feat.
That man is Sergio Aguero, who scored a staggering 106 goals in Man City’s stadium during his time at the club:

Elsewhere, it was also revealed that Sterling has scored the second-most headers in the Premier League this term:
Only 5ft 10′ Diogo Jota (4) has scored more headed goals than 5ft 7′ Raheem Sterling (3) in the Premier League this season.
