Rasheedat Ajibade bags brace and assist in Atletico Madrid big win over Valencia

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria captain Rasheedat Ajibade was a standout performer as Atletico Madrid secured their third consecutive victory in the 2024/2025 Spanish women’s top flight, thrashing Valencia 4-0.

Ajibade played a crucial role, contributing two goals and an assist during the match.

She set up Gabriella Garcia for the opening goal in the 15th minute, and just 11 minutes later, Sheila Guijarro doubled Atletico’s lead.

Ajibade then scored the third goal herself in the 37th minute, converting a chance created by Norwegian international Vilde Boe Risa.

Despite a tighter second half, Ajibade found the net again, solidifying her team’s dominant performance.

With her two goals and two assists, Ajibade now leads the league’s goal-scoring chart.

Atletico Madrid sits in second place with a perfect nine points from three matches, just behind Real Madrid. Defending champions FC Barcelona are also on nine points but trail on goal difference.

Ajibade’s impressive display, alongside fellow Nigerian Gift Monday—who has also scored two goals with an assist for Costa Adeje Tenerife—reflects the strong impact of Nigerian players in the league this season.
