Relief for Taiwo Lawal after scoring her first goal of the season for Robo Queens

Taiwo Lawal has aired her relief at scoring her first goal of the Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership season for Robo Queens following Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Abia Angels in Lagos.
The prolific forward has faced heavy criticisms, having failed to find the back of the net in five previous matches this season but eventually broke her duck as a substitute with an 83th minute strike to guarantee Robo’s victory.
While sharing her target this season, Lawal told Nigeriafootball.ng after ending her goal drought: “It’s a great relief and joy to get my first goal of the season, the chance came, I took it and I’m glad I scored.
“It hasn’t been easy because I was criticized alot but I’m glad the goal came and this will spur me on score many goals this season.
“I’m glad the club is back to the form that we are known with and we will continue to give our best to qualify for the Super Six and take it up from there.”
Taiwo emerged the highest goal scorer at the 2022 Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament with six goals in five matches and was also named the Best Player at the 2021 Flying Officer’s Cup now known as Sheroes Cup.
The Nigeria U20 forward assures her side is ready to approach every game like a cup final to realise their aspiration.
“We will take every game seriously and approach it with a mindset that we are playing a final,” she concluded.
