Remo Stars gunning for Rangers’ scalp in Enugu showdown
By Dayo Awoniyi
Head coach Daniel Ogunmodede has sounded a ‘battle cry’, expressing his team’s readiness to take on the Enugu-based side as Remo Stars prepare to face off against defending champions Rangers International in their Matchday 24 clash on Wednesday.
The Remo Stars’ boss is undaunted by the challenge posed by Rangers, who have struggled to replicate their form from last season.
Ogunmodede’s confidence stems from his team’s impressive unbeaten run, which has spanned 74 days since their 2-1 loss to Niger Tornadoes on December 1 last year.
By Sunday, it will be 77 days since the Ikenne-based side last tasted defeat. The Remo manager, however, remains cautious, acknowledging that every game presents a unique challenge.
“No game is too easy or too difficult for us. It all depends on what unfolds during the match, some games you expect to be tough turn out to be easier, and others that you think will be straightforward become challenging,” Ogunmodede said.
“It’s the moments in the game that often decide the outcome. It doesn’t matter who we face  what matters is how we handle the game in those critical moments.”
With their sights firmly set on the title, Remo Stars will be gunning for Rangers’ scalp in Enugu, and Ogunmodede is optimistic that his team will rise to the challenge. “We will prepare as a team and hope to get it right when the time comes,” he added.
As the league leaders, Remo Stars will be looking to maintain their momentum against Rangers, who are currently in 5th place with 35 points.
