REVEALED: Why Victor Osimhen stayed put at Napoli despite tempting offers

Italian sports newspaper, Gazzetta dello Sport has given reasons why Victor Osimhen opted to remain with the Partenopeans despite interest from other clubs.

Napoli would like to extend his contract, but many top European clubs are interested in the Nigeria international, especially Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

Osimhen became Serie A’s Capocannoniere in the 2022/23 season, scoring 26 goals in 32 appearances to help Napoli win their first Scudetto in 33 years.

However,  the Italian sports newspaper has attributed the glamorous UEFA Champions League as the reason why the duo of Victor Osimhen and Georgian left winger, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia remained at Napoli.

“For Victor and Khvicha the Champions League is a great stimulus, a stage to be played by great protagonists, as they have been able to do by crashing teams of the caliber of Liverpool, Ajax, and Eintracht Frankfurt,” Gazzetta dello Sport commented.

“So it cannot be Braga to inspire fear, in addition to the logical respect that is due to every opponent.

“Napoli needs to immediately find the goals and a victory to ward off the clouds gathered in the league and resume a virtuous path.

“And there is no doubt that the expectations of scoring pass above all from the ideas, feet, and dexterity that the two know how to express together.

“After all, if the dream of the two players has remained in Napoli, it is precisely because it is convinced that it is still a protagonist in the most prestigious club tournament in the world.”
