By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria forward, Rinsola Babajide bagged an assist as her Spanish top-flight side, Costa Adeje Tenerife sealed a 2-0 win over Granada on Saturday.

The hosts had endured a three-match winless streak, while Granada on their part had a worse run of nine straight losses since opening day win over Real Sociedad.

Tenerife broke the deadlock as early as the 10th minute when Babajide was the fastest to get to the ball ahead of the Granada player, turned inside the box before her cross was scored by Ivorian forward Ange Koko.

Tenerife had other chances of doubling the lead but effort proved abortive before a free kick in the 61st minute sealed the win as Granada goalie, Sandra Estevez saved the free kick to the path of Thais whose rebound went in.

Babajide saw 72 minutes of action before Maria Perez replaced her after bagging her second assist in the league for Tenerife this season and her contribution to the win got her the nod for the woman of the match (WOTM).

Her compatriot, Gift Monday came in for Jassina Blom in the 59th minute, while Esther Okoronkwo also replaced Koko in the 85th minute for Tenerife.

On the other hand, Nigeria-eligible forward, Edna Imade played the full 90 minutes for Granada.

The win lifted Tenerife to the seventh position on the log with 16 points after 11 games, while Granada is in the relegation zone with three points in the 15th position on the 16-team league table.
