Rivers United leave to Brazzaville for CAF Confederation Cup engagement

Nigeria Premier Football League side Rivers United will depart the shores of the country for Brazzaville, Congo for the CAF Confederations Cup on Friday.
The Pride of Rivers will face Diables Noirs on Sunday 12th of February 2023 as they kick off their group stage campaign in the CAF second  Confederations Cup campaign in Brazzaville, Congo.
In a statement by its media officer, Mayuku Charles, the club will leave the country through Murtala Muhammed International airport in Lagos ahead of their clash with the Congolese giants.
“Rivers United will depart for Brazzaville Congo by 10:25am on Friday 10th February for the CAF Confederation’s cup group stage tie against Diables Noirs on Sunday 12th February 2023,” the statement reads.
“The team will depart for the city of Brazzaville, from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos via ASKY Airline. The match is slated for the 33,037 capacity Alphonse Massamba-Debat Stadium, Stade Marchand.”
Nigeria’s sole representative on the continent started its continental journey in top flight CAF Champions League before dropping to the Confederation Cup after loss to holders, Wydad Casablanca in the final Preliminary Round.
Rivers United defeated El Nasr of Egypt to 6-1 advance to the group stage of the CAF Confederations Cup. The team traveled to Brazzaville with a second-position placement in Group B of the 2022/2023 NPFL this season.
