Rumor Mill: Ademola Lookman considering Atalanta exit amid renewed Galatasaray interest

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Nigeria international Ademola Lookman could be on his way out of Atalanta in the January transfer window, with reports suggesting the forward is open to a move amid renewed interest from Turkish champions Galatasaray.

The Istanbul club had previously made an approach for Lookman during the summer transfer window but were forced to halt discussions after Atalanta reportedly placed a €60 million valuation on the 28-year-old.

According to sources close to the Turkish side, Galatasaray are prepared to reopen talks as uncertainty grows over the future of Barış Alper Yılmaz, who has drawn attention from several European clubs.

Should Yılmaz depart in January, Lookman is believed to be at the top of Galatasaray’s shortlist to reinforce their attack.

The Turkish champions have long admired Lookman’s versatility, pace, and creativity, viewing him as a player capable of bolstering their squad for both domestic and continental competitions.

During initial discussions last summer, Lookman was said to have requested an annual salary of €9 million, in addition to a €3 million performance-related bonus package.

The Nigerian forward has scored just once in eight appearances for Atalanta this season, sparking speculation that he may be seeking a fresh challenge.

Lookman remains under contract with the Serie A club until June 2027, meaning any potential transfer would require extensive negotiations.

Nevertheless, the upcoming winter transfer window could provide an opportunity for both parties to revisit talks on a deal that narrowly fell through last summer.
