Rumour Mills: Torino joins Inter Milan in race for Nigerian goalkeeper Maduka Okoye

By Wale Mustapha
Top Italian Serie A side, Torino, have expressed interest in signing in-form Nigerian goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, as reported by Nigeriafootball.ng.
Torino sees Okoye as an ideal replacement for their outgoing goalkeeper, Vanja Milinković-Savić, who is linked with a move to Manchester United. However, Torino will face stiff competition for Okoye’s signature from reigning champions Inter Milan, who are also interested in the Nigerian shot-stopper according to mondoudinese.
Okoye had an impressive season with Udinese, playing a crucial role in helping the Bianconeri retain their Serie A status with a series of stellar performances. Despite initially struggling to break into the starting lineup and being an unused substitute for the first 16 games, Okoye made his debut against Bologna, where he kept a clean sheet.
The former Watford goalkeeper went on to feature in 21 Serie A matches, conceding 25 goals and recording five clean sheets. His performances have not gone unnoticed, attracting interest from Serie A giants Inter Milan, who are looking for a goalkeeper to eventually replace Yann Sommer.
However, recent reports suggest that Inter Milan is close to reaching an agreement with Genoa for Josep Martinez, which might end their pursuit of Okoye.
Okoye is reportedly considering a move away from Udinese after just one season at the club, making the interest from Torino a potential new chapter in his career.
