Reports from France indicate that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has expressed a strong preference for joining Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) this summer.

Despite renewing his contract with Napoli last December, the Super Eagles forward has been vocal about his desire to leave the Italian club.

PSG has been monitoring the situation closely, hoping to secure an agreement to bring the 25-year-old back to France. Osimhen has consistently rejected moves to Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal, even though the club has met Napoli’s buyout clause for the striker.

While Osimhen has a clear preference for a move to the English Premier League, with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United showing interest, he has not opposed a transfer to France.

According to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, Osimhen has given the green light to PSG, indicating his readiness to join the Parisians.

Negotiations between PSG and Napoli remain the key part of the deal, with the French giants requesting a discount on Osimhen’s €130 million release clause. Reports from Napoli suggest that the deal is nearing completion and could be finalized in the coming hours.

Osimhen’s time in Naples appears to be coming to an end, with the former Lille star potentially leaving Napoli’s training camp at any moment. According to Tutto Napoli, the 25-year-old is not expected to wear the club’s shirt again.

In light of the ongoing negotiations, Napoli left Osimhen out of their first friendly of the season on Tuesday afternoon due to a slight muscle strain. The forward has also suspended training without any official reasons, as Napoli aims to prevent any risk of injury.

Osimhen is no stranger to France, having spent a season at LOSC Lille after joining from Belgium’s Royal Sporting Charleroi.

During an impressive campaign at Lille, Osimhen scored 18 goals across all competitions and won the Prix Marc-Vivien Foé as the best African footballer in Ligue 1.
