By Wale Mustapha
Nigeria striker, Samuel Omorodion was the star of the night in the LaLiga’s Friday night clash as he helped Alaves to a comfortable 3-1 home win over his boyhood club, Granada.
The 19-year-old led the line for the Los Blanquiazules and didn’t disappoint as he was a menace in Granada’s defense through the match.
The Nigerian was to give the host the lead inside 11th minute when he flicked in a half volley but it was later credited as an own goal as it came off the leg of Granada defender, Raúl Torrente.
Alaves doubled their lead with five minutes to half time as Abde Rebbach picked up a loose ball and curled a lovely strike into the corner of the net.
They maintained their dominance of the match and it took them only 10 minutes into restart before adding the third goal, this time it was Omorodion who finally had his goal against his old club as he made a good run to made a simple tap in for his fourth goal of the season following a lovely cross from the right by captain Luis Rioja.
Granada were able to get what would then be their consolation with five minutes from time as Famara Diédhiou was tripped in the penalty box, and Myrto Uzuni converted from the spot.
The result helped Alaves to complete their first back-to-back victories in the current LaLiga season which also further condemned Granada to a more worrying position on the log.
